XXIII SIRN National Congress: neuroscience, artificial intelligence and personalized rehabilitation

From Feb. 15-17, 2024, the XXIII SIRN National Congress entitled “Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence and Personalized Rehabilitation” will be staged in Florence, Italy.

Congresso Nazionale SIRN 2024

The congress, which expects more than 700 participants this year, will delve into all topics of innovation in neurological rehabilitation thanks to numerous outstanding international speakers and more than 900 square meters of dedicated exhibition areas.

Mauro Zampolini, president of SIRN (Italian Society of Neurological Rehabilitation), tells us that the central theme of the congress will be “Artificial Intelligence, New Technologies and Humanization.” Seemingly contradictory terms, but in reality there is no development of robotics and AI without a close connection with patient care.

The use of machine learning algorithms for early diagnosis and personalized treatment planning, the application of machine learning and predictive analytics, and support for neurostimulation and robotics will be discussed. Ethical and regulatory aspects on the application of AI in neurorehabilitation will also be covered.

Argomenti principali SIRN 2024

A congress with an international scope, explains Caterina Pistarini, secretary of the World Federation for Neurorehabilitation, who presents the international dimension of the congress: 5,000 members and 41 national societies worldwide.

Francesca Cecchi, co-chair of the Congress, recognizes the multidisciplinary and multiprofessional nature of this content-rich comparison event: “main objective: to delve into how technological innovation and the potential offered to us by artificial intelligence can be increasingly put at the service of personalized intervention, that is, not just precision intervention but intervention that takes into account the priorities of the values of the person to be rehabilitated”.

Around neurological rehabilitation has a voice for the rehabilitation specialist but also for all the professionals around the patient: the physical therapist, speech therapist, psychologist, neuropsychologist, occupational therapist, as well as the orthopedic technician, nurse and bioengineer for technological innovation.

The cultural and scientific contributions of these professionals will be voiced at the congress, without forgetting the voice of patients and their families, supported by the associations.

Carmelo Chisari,, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Pisa, reports the joint session with SIPF (Italian Society of Psychophysiology) entitled “Learning and Neuroplasticity in Neurorehabilitation” scheduled for Friday, Feb. 16.

Studying and applying neuroplasticity is crucial for those involved in neurorehabilitation. Knowing the mechanisms that underlie our brain’s ability to change based on external stimuli because it allows us to offer targeted, personalized, and increasingly high-performance treatments to patients.

Particular attention will be provide to young researchers, with a session dedicated to professionals-in-training and an award for the best undergraduate and graduate theses.

Linari Medical will be a Sponsor at the congress at booth 19 and will contribute to the event with a reading by Dr. Nadia Bolognini on Feb. 16 at 10:00 a.m. (Green Room), entitled “The Telemedicine Rehabilitation Intervention of Hemianopsia and Neglect“.

It will be an opportunity to meet or see each other again and try AvDesk, our neuro-visual assessment and rehabilitation device, live.
