Caterina Stimola

At Linari Medical, innovating means turning technology into simpler, more accessible care.

Telerehabilitation is the most concrete way to do that: a pathway that starts in the clinic and continues at home, without losing continuity, quality or the relationship with the specialist. Our solutions are built through constant dialogue with healthcare professionals, so they are useful, simple to use, and allow those following the pathway to do so independently, without ever feeling alone.

This is the idea that guides me and the team at Linari Medical, and that we pursue with passion, responsibility and care. Because innovation only has value when it truly improves the care experience.

Caterina Stimola, CEO & Co-Founder

Born in 2018,
with 15 years of history behind us

Linari Medical was founded in Pisa in December 2018 as a spin-off of Linari Engineering, the technology group founded by Stefano Linari in 2003.

Our company builds on years of clinical research with the IRCCS Stella Maris Foundation: back in 2011, AvDesk received an award from the Pisa Chamber of Commerce, and by 2014 its second version was in use at the foundation, including in its home version.

The very first AvDesk prototype was designed for home-based telerehabilitation, using computer vision to follow the patient's gaze and movements during the exercise. This is what we now call Physical AI: an artificial intelligence that observes the body in space and guides the exercise in real time, allowing the specialist to follow the pathway synchronously and remotely.

Our headquarters

Our headquarters, located in the industrial area of Pisa, is a large workshop of more than 1,000 sqm where our ideas take shape, from the design to the manufacturing and commercialization of the devices.

The company brings together all the professional roles needed to develop every stage of the process, ensuring complete and integrated control of the product.

The R&D area is our dedicated center for applied clinical research, where mechanical, software, biomedical and electronic engineers work every day alongside the Marketing department and the Sales team to turn scientific research into solutions that are genuinely useful to the market.

From research
to product,
all in-house

Linari Medical carries the know-how of Linari Engineering and of an ecosystem of technology companies founded by the same entrepreneur: from Linari Nanotech's nanotechnologies to iProd's manufacturing software, up to Alleantia's industrial IoT.

That is why we design and build in-house both the hardware and the software of AvDesk, all the way to the go-to-market strategy, with technical leadership rooted in experimental physics: Stefano Linari, our Chairman and co-founder, worked on the CMS experiment at CERN and at Fermilab in Chicago before founding the Linari Engineering group.

with those who use it

AvDesk is not a static product. It evolves through the collaboration with the clinicians who use it: neurologists, orthoptists, neuropsychologists, physiatrists and physiotherapists.

Every new field of application starts from a study or a clinical need and becomes a protocol that the platform makes available to the whole network.

Rehabilitation starts in the clinic.
It must be able to continue at home.

From the start, we put the patient at the center, not the facility. Rehabilitation works if it is continuous, and continuity clashes with travel, waiting lists and distance. That is why we built a model in which the specialist sets up and monitors the therapy and the patient carries it out at home too, to the same standards.

An innovative model for the healthcare system as well: in Italy, hospital rehabilitation accounts for more than 7.6 million inpatient days per year¹. Moving part of it to the home, when the pathway allows, can free up beds and time inside the facility.
