Neurovisual Training With Acoustic Feedback: An Innovative Approach for Nystagmus Rehabilitation
The research aims to evaluate an innovative rehabilitative approach to treat nystagmus in patients with FXTAS syndrome. The objective is to improve ocular stability and quality of life, exploring alternative therapeutic solutions for a condition with limited options.
Results
The study analyzes the case of a 60-year-old woman affected by nystagmus and cerebellar ataxia, symptoms of FXTAS syndrome. The treatment included an innovative approach that integrated the use of AvDesk, a device for neuro-visual rehabilitation, with personalized ocular stabilization and postural control exercises.
After the program, the patient showed a significant reduction in nystagmus intensity and an improvement in visual stability, balance, and quality of life. These results highlight the effectiveness of AvDesk and targeted rehabilitative strategies in treating FXTAS-related nystagmus, offering new perspectives for a complex and currently undertreated condition.
